BACKGROUND
Plato put forward several understandings of space in Timaeus

Such like Chora which is an invisible and formless receptacle of all becoming, receives everything.
Let’s think about it, What if we have a container which can hold various shapes of items?
SOLUTION
To create a versatile and environmentally friendly system to transport for take-out, delivery, etc,
turning a private package into a shared container, which helps people have better pickup experience.

We design a more convenient system for point-to-point transport of objects.
Also there is such a container that can define itself according to the shape of the object, that can be recycled and reorganized.

CHALLENGE

1, High demand for express delivery & takeaway, generating a lot of packaging waste
·The delivery industry generates hundreds of millions of packaging waste.
·Non-environmentally friendly packaging materials
·Excessive packaging carton + bubble wrap + plastic bag
·Lack of a proper recycling system
2, Poor shipping and pickup experience
3, Higher labour costs
China's large urban express packaging waste increment accounted for about 90% of the incremental amount of domestic waste.
The packaging waste brought by express parcels can reach one million tons per year.

DATA
50 billion packages / year
5.3 billion woven bags / year
24.5 billion plastic bags / year
5.7 billion envelopes / year
14.3 billion boxes / year
43 billion meters of duct tape / year
140 million packages / day

WHAT CHORA PROVIDE

Chora box & System
+
Chora APP
Size adaptive filling part: size adaptive + fixed
Big data computing logistics and transportation stowage
Can be assembled according to item size automatically
Pick up Reservation + Shipping Reservation
+ Scan Code + Delivery Track

KEY FEATURE

Through several prototype iterations and tests, this version presented on the left was designed to assist the entire CHORA system and make it more convenient for users to send and pick up their deliveries.
·PICKUP RESERVATION

After confirming,
delivery information
will be updated.
Chose the item you
want to schedule
the time for.
Input the delivery
address to pick up.
Schedulea a specific time
to pick up.
·SHIPPING RESERVATION

Reserve the door
-to-door shipping
Fill in the contact information
of the sender and recipient,
then select the pickup time
and the type and weight of
the item to be sent.

Customization of the box size
We offer three sizes of cases to accommodate different weights, types, and volumes.
·SCAN CODE

Scan QR code to verify the information
The same QR code is used for picking up and sending, making the verification process efficient and fast, simplify user behavior to the greatest extent possible.

·CHORA BOX

👈 Vertical section diagram

1, Place items from the top
2, The Chora box automatically adapts to the shape of the object and wraps itself around it
3, The Chora box will be charged automatically after arriving at the distribution station.

EXPLORATION
·QUESTIONAIRE

83% courier deliveries at least once a month.
96% find the packaging used to send and collect them to be cumbersome and unsatisfying.
86% are unhappy with delivery packaging because they feel it is not environmentally friendly.
·PERSONA

In order to collect demographic data and a wide range of user opinions, we conducted an online survey,
naturalistic observations and user interviews.
Over the three days of the questionnaire, 714 people from different ages and occupations answered the
Questionnaire, and we selected five typical sites and conducted 10 observations and interviews.
We then conducted the following analyses
·JOURNEY MAP

·COMPETITIVE COMPARITION ANALYSE — Five Dimensions of User Experience

·REFLECTION AND ITERATION
·LOGO

Environmental protection, restructuring, recycling, express box, systematization
·ICON

·COLOR

·WIREFRAME

USABILITY TEST

·SPECIFIC USER TEST CONTENT:
1, Overall process pre-test evaluation, using an online questionnaire
to understand user awareness and expectations, and to draw system
pre-test conclusions.
2, Single evaluation according to the actual task flow simulation,
stating the problems found in the process of using the system by
different users under the same task.
3, After studying the key issues, we gave the corresponding
modification suggestions and the results of the modified system.
·EVALUATION CONTENT:
Online app and system design for functionality
& usage performance, etc.
·PURPOSE OF TESTING:
To conduct a more initial evaluation of Chora's app interface and
system prototype based on the campus scenario of Tsinghua
University to help better improve the chora system solution.
·RESULTS OF ONLINE RESEARCH--QUESTIONNAIRE
·Teachers: 0.1%

·Courier worker: 0.3%
·Doctor: 2.06%
·Graduate: 3.09%
The sample of this questionnaire was mostly undergraduates
from Tsinghua University, and the form of the research was
questionnaire, with a total of 217 questionnaires collected.
The results of the questionnaire showed that in general,
people were satisfied with the chora shipping and pickup
service system and expressed their desire to use it.
·Undergraduate: 94.85%
·Good result of overall completion of usability testing tasks

Task1
Task12
Task3
Task4
Task5
Finished
Unfinished
·The details of the system were evaluated and improved. For example,
"Do you prefer to use the APP or mini program or other forms?”
Others: 2.06%

No need: 13.14%
App: 16.49%
Mini program: 68.04%
Conclusion: nearly seventy percent of people are willing to use mini programs, may feel more convenient, no pressure of download.
·"Do you want the courier to send you a message when it arrives at the Beijing distribution center, so that you
can make an appointment in advance to pick up the goods?”

Do not want to repeat the message 34.43%
Others: 0%
Time of pick-up to be determined: 17.39%
No need of extra process: 0%
Conclusion: More than half of them don't like it, because they find it troublesome and don't want to add extra steps.
No need to schedule time ahead of time: 13.04%

FEEDBACKS & IN THE FUTURE
1. Reduce the employment rate in the early stage, liberate the labor force in the long run, and promote the benign stimulation of the talent market.
2. Some packaging and other manufacturing industries are impacted, with high primary construction cost and long economic implementation time.
3. Further iterative design of materials to enhance packaging safety.
